History of DIET, Mayurbhanj

DIET, Mayurbhanj was established in 1962 as an Elementary Teacher’s Training institute, gradually it was upgraded to Certified Teachers’ Training Institute. By Centrally Sponsored Scheme in 1988 this institute was upgraded to District Institute of Education and Training (DIET). This institute was founded with the goal of transforming teacher education and enhancing the quality of primary education in this region. In response to the growing need for skilled educators, the institute began its journey as a cornerstone of educational development in the district. In 2023, DIET received the Centre of Excellence in Teacher’s Training, recognizing its commitment to educational innovation. Today, DIET is proud to have trained over 3,000 educators who are making a difference in elementary schools across the state. With a focus on digital literacy and inclusive education, the institute continues to evolve, preparing teachers for the challenges of the 21st-century classroom. As we look to the future, DIET remains committed to expanding its reach and deepening its impact. Our goal is to integrate cutting-edge technology into our programs, ensuring that every teacher we train is equipped to inspire the next generation of learners. From its humble beginnings to its current standing as a leader in education, DIET’s journey is a testament to our unwavering commitment to shaping the future of education in our district. Vision

  • Ensuring quality learning in elementary schools in the district making the teachers and other stakeholders acquainted with changing context in content and pedagogy.
  • Preparing a base for creating a learning society in the district.
